A basecoat is used as the first coat on the leather edge to fill in the uneven surface of the leather edge for a smoother layer. This is especially true when you have combined two layers of leather together, as the basecoat will make the gap between the two layers invisible.

The Basecoat Dense can be used almost on all kinds of leather or combining two layers of the same type of leather together.

The Eco-Leather Basecoat can be used to materials of different nature or combining two layers of leather of different nature (imitation leather, synthetics). This may require more than one application to achieve the same result as on the leather.

    1. Apply a layer of basecoat by hand using a roller pen applicator or machine. Once applied, the basecoat appears white, but once dried, it becomes semi-transparent.
    2. Once the basecoat has dried, lightly sand the edges until the surface is smooth. Use very fine sand paper.
    3. If you want a thicker edge repeat Step 1 and apply a 2nd layer of Basecoat. You may not need to sand again if the edges are smooth.
    4. Now you are ready to apply the Edge Paint of your choice.
